Gate-Beautiful was inspired by a story from the book of Acts, Chapter 3
A crippled man was sitting on the steps of the temple at the Gate called Beautiful. He was crippled from birth. His life consisted of begging for alms; a life of discouragement, rejection and pain. He was stuck, unable to get up and live beyond his pain and brokenness.
Two disciples of Jesus Christ came along that day, Peter and John. As they approached the lame and broken-hearted man, Peter caringly expressed the truth of Christ’s loving power to him, proclaiming, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I will give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Peter then held out his hand, helped the astonished and healed man to his unfamiliar feet and led him into the courtyard of the temple. Peter then walked along-side him teaching, guiding and loving him.
Eventually, by receiving the love of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, this same dysfunctional, dependent, and disillusioned man was not only able to walk, but came to personally know and live out his destiny in wholeness and peace. He was filled with unspeakable joy, power and purpose. That is what the loving, transforming power of Jesus does.
That is what Jesus does at Gate-Beautiful!
